Thick, heavy brushstrokes of colorful oil paint! These ghostly figures are the work of Bay Area artist Ursula O'Farrell. Her expressionistic compositions look like bright scenes of dreamy, watery reflections. Her color palette in her paintings are just brilliant...combined with her splashes of color depicting light make her artwork incredible. So many of her paintings are large scale, some around 4 x 6 feet, that I can only imagine in real life that her work can swallow you whole!
I have always been a huge fan of German Expressionism, which is probably why I was immediately drawn to O'Farrell's work. Both O'Farrell's painting style and Expressionism are so wonderful that I have to show one of my favorite German Expressionist Ernst Kirchner's work as well! The brushstrokes are different, but the influence still shows! Beautiful.
