Another artist depicting meditative, faceless subjects. These beautifully executed paintings are the work of Slovakian artist Alena Adamikova. She mostly uses oils, however that top image includes some mixed media for the face. I do not know why I am always immediately drawn to artwork depicting humans missing their most identifiable feature; the face. They always seem to hint at issues pertaining to self-identity and reflectivity. Oh, identity issues...don't we all have them? Anyhow, one of my favorite aspects of Adamikova's work is the fact that these paintings are very large. The painting of the little girl two paintings down is actually several feet high! It is as if you can walk straight into that mysterious place behind her face.
