What flora! These magical specimens are created from flower photos as well as real pressed flowers...and I cannot tell the difference! Anne Ten Donkelaar, an artist based in The Netherlands, creates amazing works of art based on different delicate elements of nature, such as these beautiful blooms and roots. My very favorite thing about this series of is the emphasis on the fragile, subtle lines of the roots and stems. Even the shadows that these stems create are absolutely stunning! Speaking of stunning, here is a lovely quote from Donkelaar's site.
"Weeds become poetry, each unique twig gets attention, nature seems to float."
It is true that her artwork does seem to float in the frames! Donkelaar's other artwork seems to float as well, such as her Broken Butterfly series. Her other work that includes more beetles and bees are equally as beautiful and just as delicate. Her work has a sense of care, with a collective spirit!
"By protecting these precious pieces under glass, I give the objects a second life and hope to inspire people to make up their own stories about them."
